the rifle is a S&W sport with the 1/8 melonite 16" barrel and a P223 3x9x40 scope. Shooting of a table with 2 small sand bags.
I sighted in at 50 yards and dead on with a 3 shot group a nickel will cover using Winchester PP 64g. I also used fiocci 55 with a 3 shot group and American eagle 55g with about quarter size grouping. Next was fiocci 62g with a dime sized 4 shot group. I was happy with accuracy and grouping but wanted to zero at 100yds since most of my shots on hogs come from 70-150. I fire another 3 shot group with the Winchester 64g PP to assure zero and then walk it out to 100 and am thinking I should be a touch high from my 50 yard zero, but all ammo produced about 1" low shots from previous zero. I adjust turrets to be dead on at 100 and go back to 50 and it is low like it should be from what I have read. Is there a reason why when zeroing at 50 and then checking at 100 it would be low, but zero at 100 it would be low at 50? Has anybody else had this issue? Is there something I am missing? |

According to my Primary Arms mouse pad, a 50 yard zero should produce a a shot 1.6 inches high at 100 yards using M855/M193. With a 100 year zero should be about .8 inches low at 50 yards. That's the weird thing about it that I can't understand. If I zero at 100 I am about an inch low at 50 like said, but if I zero at 50 I am low at 100 then. |
