[ARCHIVED THREAD] - upper markings

I was looking in the stolen firearms section (sad & scarey) and was wondering if anyone marks thier upper or is there a marking I dont know about to identify if stolen. I have a decent safe and believe in layers of security, but nothing is 100% guarantee.
