| My brother has a bushmaster with permanent carry handle. And wants to make it a flat top. Will any upper receiver work? Does he have to buy complete upper? Would it be simple to swap? Thank you. New to ar's |
| He can buy any upper receiver but make sure to pay attention to wether his barrel has M4 feed ramps or not. Buy an upper which either does or does not have them also. Normally it is fairly easy to swap if you have the right tools (barrel wrench) and a good upper receiver block to mount it to a vise. Look at Brownell's website for a tutorial video or youtube. Pay for the tools or get on your "hometown" thread and see if someone will lend you tools or have you come over to do it. If not, you should be able to have an armorer or gunsmith in your area swap it for about $50. |
