wanting a good varmint upper for coyote hunting. not wanting to give my left arm for it. any suggestions for a good price.

RRA makes a varmint and a coyote rifle.

I really don't see why any old AR isn't good for varmint.

I have a varmint gun built around a Rock River 16" varmint barrel.  Great price and great performance from this barrel but the thing is HEAVY and though it is a great shooter, it doesn't out shoot my Colt HBAR.  I would save the weight and get an HBAR

Here is my WOA with a Sabre lower, WOA/RRA 2 stage and a DD rail....I have just under a grand in it ...wityh optics....hey Tasco scopes work for me!!!

I use a standard 16" middy HBAR upper from RRA, which can be had pretty cheap. If you want something free-floated and such, then you're gonna pay more, but that stuff isn't needed - just use what you have. I have been using my rig for quite a few years now, and I stack up a lot of fur every year with it. Check out the Small Game and Trapping forums for more info. Here's what my AR setup looks like:
