Any solid 5" or 6" bench vise will do great.  I think most people run a 5".

Try Home Depot. I picked up a nice 4.5" vice there for about $20.

I bought a 5" at Home Depot that is solid enough for most jobs, the jaws can be rotated 360 degrees so you can turn your work at an angle.  I like mine and it was pretty reasonable, around $50.00 give or take a little bit.

Mine's a 5 1/2" Craftsman and it's been great.  Had it for six years now.

harbor freight.  cheaper than Sears.  I got a 6" for something like $29.99.  It's not finished as nice as the Craftsman, but since I use it to hold stuff I'm whacking on, welding on, grinding on....who cares?
