| Anyone use this optic on your ar? |
|
I just picked one up a couple weeks ago. It is built very well, has red & green dots with adjustable brighness, and when mounted it's like using an aimpoint...just 1/3 the cost. Some people have commented on the dot not being bright enough, but from my experience it's almost too bright at the highest level even on a sunny day here in AZ (The ARD I bought seperately really helps too). The down side to the strikefire is the side position on/off switch. If you are right handed it can easily be activated when using a single point or 3-point sling that would allow the weapon to hit your body. I'm a lefty so this really isn't a big issue with me. Also, if you put it in a case make sure to remove the battery first. For a range gun or hunting you'll be happy. For tactical/law enforcement go aimpoint.

| There's been lots of threads on them in the optics forum. I have one and have been pleased. Haven't put it thru any super tough work, but it seems pretty resilient. Is it an Aimpoint? No. Is it a good quality optic with a lifetime warranty for 1/3 the price of an Aimpoint? Yes. Vortex also has an industry forum here and VortexSam will be happy to answer any questions you have there. I'd recommend the Strikefire to anyone based on my experience. |

It was his commitment to the quality of Vortex's product that made me decide to give them a try. He usually is fast to reply to any questions. Go take a look at the Optics Forum like g8rgunner pointed out...this thread will be moved there soon enough. BTW...they are releasing their version of the T1/H1 optic though its price will be in the high $200s |

This is my experience too- just got it, like it so far but the switch is a little touchy and easily activated. |
| I picked one up about a month ago to mount on my new S&W M&P15-22. I have an Aimpoint CompM3 on my M&P15 223 rifle and I wanted something about the same on the 22 version. I had some bad luck with both the rifle and the Strikefire. The rifle went back to S&W and The Strikefire went back to Vortex. Both will be reunited tomorrow. The Strikefire was not bright enough to see in the snow on a sunny day. I called Vortex and they said that they had problems with some of the sights and sent me a lable for free shipping back to Vortex. Customer service was great. They sent me out a new one the next day and this one is brighter. If only S&W had this good of customer service. |
| Most of the complaints that the Strikefire was getting on the web were because of the poor placement of the on/off switch and that the sight can be turned on in a hard case by hitting the side. I found a way to help with this problem. The manual says that the battery life is about 200 hours on the highest setting but 3000 hours on the lowest setting with night vision. It also says that it will shut it's self off after 2 hours. When you turn off the scope, it comes back on at the same brightness as you used when you shut it off. So I just hit the night vision button on the back before I hit the on/off switch on the side. This way, if it is bumped in the case and turns it's self on, it will only stay on for 2 hours on the lowest setting and the batteries last 3000 hours worth of usage at this setting. When I want to turn it back on, I just hit the side on/off button and then the night vision button and I'm up to full brightness. |

The newest strikefires stay on for 6 hours and the on off button slightly recessed and more resistant to accidental on off and a brighter dot.How ever for me I have an old COMP M aimpoint and my next purchase will be an M3 or Ill just save up for the M4s. I believe the recessed button and 6 hours auto off will be featured on their new micro red dot sight similiar to the T1/H1 sights. |
| I have been using my Strikefire for awhile now and Im very happy with it. I also use the primary arms 3x behind it for when im hog and varmit hunting. Some people say the dot is not bright enough but I have not had a issue with that. Great red dot for the money. |
| Purchased one last Wednesday. Had a problem with not having a green dot. Called the company and had a replacement on Monday. Took to the range today and worked great. Absolute co-witness and very few clicks off from center. Great customer service and product. Will add the 3X a soon as it is available. |

I just got one for Xmas and IMO this is a great sight for the $$$. Like others have said the on/off switch is the only issue I have.
In my soft case it gets turned on all the time. I have a bottle cap taped over the switch till I find a better way to cover the switch. I wish vortex would make a plastic molded snap on cover to protect the switch when not in use. Turning the brightness down to it's lowest setting is a great idea.. I'll be doing that today.. |
