just received my complete upper from PSA today, A3. got my BCG from DSA. LRB lower with DPMS LPK. i got a cheap adjustable stock from amazon when i build the lower three years ago (been building my cars and bike instead of guns). the butt-stock doesn't exist on amazon anymore, but anyways...
my bolt catch is operating properly with an empty mag and without the upper attached. my butt-stock is limiting the travel of my bolt so it doesn't go back far enough to engage the bolt catch. i have no clue what to do, change whole butt-stock, change spring, change buffer? I'm hoping i can change just the buffer, but i don't have any idea which will work with the buffer tube i have installed... any help would be greatly appreciated. |

What's the free length of the recoil spring?
As stated, should be around 10.5" and if its around 11.75" instead, its your problem (will feel it coil binding up as you pull all the way back on the charging handle). Also measure the inside void depth of the receiver extension. It should be 7" from the lip to the back of the void inside the tube. If it's not (shorter), then double check for something in the tube that fell in and you did not remove. |

Quoted:
the spring is 11.25 inches. i took the spring out, put the buffer in the tube, put the gun back together, pulled back the CH and it still didn't go back far enough... then, i measured the buffer tube inner depth... 6.75 inches... there's my issue... Yep, you bought an Airsoft unit, and not one for the AR-15 rifles. |

The stock kit is for gas blow back airsoft rifles (why the shorter depth of the void).
The spring and buffer, and even butt stock may fit/work on a real AR 15 carbine receiver extension, or they may not. Best bet, to just buy real AR-15 carbine butt stock kit with spring and buffer, and if you can use the other airsoft parts down the road, even better, find someone that is looking for a Carbine gas blow back airsoft kit for their rifle. |
