| Could someone with experience guide me in choosing a eotech? Which battery power, version, model#,all that good stuff. |

I actually bought the 552 even though I don't own any night vision. It is something that I never thought I would be looking into because of the price, but I figured that technology costs are coming down every day because of advances and I might actually be able to afford it one day. I figured that it was better to have the option down the road than not. Low and behold, NV is quickly making it to the top of the list that the little devilish voice in the back of my head says I need to buy |
*snip* Exact reason I bought my 551. |

552.D1 Revision F Hands down for me. First off, it takes AA batteries, which are inexpensive and easy to find. Even AFTER the SHTF and TEOTWAWKI, you will STILL be able to find AA batteries. Secondly you never know when you might pick up night vision in the future, and it is a nice feature to have. Hell, I think walmart has some type of night vision now. Thirdly, and the reason I chose the D1, is that it is JUST the 1 moa dot. The 1 MOA dot only reticle is nice for people used to the aimpoint. I like it because it is clean. The 1 dot & 65moa circle reticle (the A.65) was too "busy" or "crowded" for me. Also I can CHANGE the dot size by adjusting the power, BUT the 65moa ring isnt there to bloom the image out. If i want a large dot, just crank it up. With the A.65 version, the 65moa cricle will bloom as you increse the brightness settings, eventually blocking everything. I would not trade this for anything, & i am thinking about picking up ANOTHER one, JUST to have it as a spare, in case i want to put it on another rifle. |
