I was thinking about a similar question.

However, my question is not limited to Daniel Defense 9.0, KAC RIS, and KAC RAS.  There seem to be so many foreends with rails.....GG&G, ARMS SIR, KAC RAS, KAC RAS II to name a few.

What are the different foreends with rails?  What are pros and cons of each of them?  What do you recommend?

Thank you very much for your input in advance!!

Glock,

The Daniel Defense 9.0 is for a mid length barrel and is free floated.  The RAS and RIS are the same thing for the most part. The RIS pre dates the RAS, and the RIS has a locking mechinism at the front end and the RAS has the locking mechinism at the back end.

You can't go wrong with either the KAC or the Daniel Defense products.  The KAC and Daniel Defense free float tube are comparable in most aspects.  As a side note the standard RAS is NOT free floated, the RAS FF (free float) is.

The KAC M4 RAS on my MT6400C is as solid as a rock. No rattles on it at all!

I have a RIS, RAS, and MRE (free floated RAS)...The MRE and the Free Float RAS are rock solid.  The RIS and RAS have a little movement when using the vertical grip, but not much to speak of.

Just got this a week or so ago, DD9.0, its rock solid. Also have the KAC M4, the DD is a more oval than the KAC, but both are very good.

I recently got the YHM specter free float kit and I am very please with it.  I have spent a few hours at the range with it and I am very please.  You might want to add Yankee Hill on to your research and give them a look.
