i just bought a bushmaster v match 20inch rifle and i want to mount a scope. i am not sure which brand to buy and i only want to spend around $150. i have a bushnell on my m70 that is a really good scope and i like it a lot, and on my 10/22 i have a tasco that is also excellant, they are both 3x9 scopes. i want something a little more powerful than these like maybe 6x20x50 but i dont know what brands are good and which are not . i will not own another simmons because i think they suck. i am sure plenty of other folks like them just fine but i dont, same as i am sure plenty folks dont care for tasco. but i am not trying to start a flame here, just want some advice. so if you will tell me some good scopes as well as which ones to stay away from it would be very helpful. and remember around $150

A fair set of rings will cost $90. $150 isn't much of a scope - $200 will buy you a Simmons.

I would say that Simmons are a good scope for the money - one of the finest in the el-cheapo price range.

You'd have to spend twice that for a fine quality Weaver and four to five times that for a Leupold which is a brand that most here tout.

Stay away from BEC and Leapers for God's sake!

If you want a nice selection of inexpensive scopes checkout SportsmanGuide.com.  You could probably find a cheap mount, rings and a scope for the $150 you want to spend but as stated many a time here, you'll get what you pay for.  I would suggest investing in some locktite also.
Congrats on you new rifle by the way and welcome aboard.
