| i want to get an ar shorty entry type post ban, but can't decide which to pick. any advice would be a big help. do i go with RRA, BUSHMASTER, DPMS, etc.? go with a 14.5" or 16" hbar or bull barrel. they all look good. thanks for your input. |

Entry AR? Thats like an entry AR 50. If you want an entry weapon, a shotgun or an AR in a pistol caliber. Why? #1 If you fire, you are going to detach your retina from the blast. #2 The stream of blood coming out of your ears will impede hearing. #3The 4 houses the bullet penetrates will make for ALOT of paperwork, or repair bills, lawsuits, etc. Then again, if you want to look all tactical at the range, the shorty/entry ARs are cute... |
| perhaps "entry" was not the right term. a short range tactical combat ar15 that is relativley light weight and compact. i'm not interested in having a fire fight with an intruder with this type weapon. i have a 12 ga. and 40 cal. for home defense. i'm not interested in how a gun looks at the range, either. i'm looking for reliability, durability, versatility, accuracy, to name a few. |

Armalite and Bushmaster have chrome lined barrels and 5.56 nato chambers. Others may not. However, you are in good shape with RRA and DPMS. Both make good products. I like the 16" over the 14.5". You get more velocity. Since you need a perm break to make the barrel 16" anyway, just go with the 16". |

A bull barrel is heavier than an HBAR, is heavier than an M4 barrel. HBARs are pretty much standard these days, but the M4s are popular for their lighter weight. The "entry" stock on the RRA is too short for anything else, including normal shooting. In many cases the .223 will penetrate LESS than a pistol caliber. See [url]www.ammo-oracle.com[/url] for more information. BM & Armalite are chrome-lined. Some RRA are too, but most aren't. DPMS & Oly aren't lined. You have to decide if that's important to you. DO get a flat-top--it makes mounting optics so much easier. |

I just bought my first AR recently for $615 + tax --J&T Distributing 16" Complete CAR Kit and DPMS forged lower. IMHO, quality of both products are excellent. Just as good as any other civilian versions I've looked at which includes the ABC's or at least thats my opinion. Bushmaster XM15 E2S Shorty is $799 + tax locally. I could not justify the cost differential. And yes, I can afford to buy Armalite, Colt, or Bushmaster. Just my experience and .02 |

Must be a lot of medical discharges amongst SEALs and Delta... And its been [b]heavily[/b] covered here that .223/5.56mm penetrates common construction materials [b]less[/b] than pistol caliber rounds. Numerous LE agencies, including the FBI, have tested and proven this beyond doubt. |
