Does anyone take off the upper and bore sight the gun before taking it to the range? I just got a scope and a friend recommended doing this. Any input?

Thanks.

Not so far. Just shoot at 25m and see what happens.

Bore sighting in the old fashioned manner (i.e. remove BCG and sight down the bore and adjust to the bore) works great out to about 50 yards.... much beyond and my eyes and the skinny (5.56mm) bore start to have serious issues.
I recently ordered the Leupold boresighter... had an AR rifle, pistol and .308 rifle on the X-ring within 4 shots each... easy 1.5 MOA on each weapon before 1 shot was fired., well under 1 moa on each at 100 yards after only 4 or 5 shots.
