I have s Scar 17 that I am considering a 13 inch barrel for. Also a suppressor in the future.

I was also thinking about selling the Scar to fund another suppressed system. Building an AR or maybe even a tavor or Sig.

Does a suppressed .300blk have less blowback than a 5.56 AR or Scar 16/17?

I really like the Scar as a whole but it is overkill for what I use it for. A 13inch .308 would be more than enough for 99% of my use at 200 yards or less most of the time with the occasional 400-800 yards. Also the Scar has probably spoiled me with how clean it runs compared to an AR.

I also really like the sleek lines of the AR and abundant options. I like the thin long hand guards on my ARs.(Something you cannot do with the Scar...thin as I know you can get extensions)  I know an AR would serve me well shooting paper with the occasional yote.

Opinions? Keep Scar? .300 AR? 5.56 AR?

There's a rule that covers this.
Get both. Or in this case all three.
Problem solved, except how to pay for them, you on your own there.

^This.

But seriously, SBR the SCAR and go ahead and buy an AR lower and submit a form 1 for that as well. Add a 7.62 can and you're gtg without sacrificing anything (besides your bank account).

All 3 it is! I wish but I am buying my first house currently so that is a no go..for now.

Looking through some pic threads I really like the way the 10inch 16 looks and suppressed it'd still be pretty short.

My 17 is the do all rifle for me. My personal rifle shoots several factory loads into 1.5-2inches at 200 yards and I'd be afraid I'd loose that if I cut it down. I like how the pws brake keeps my muzzle down. Maybe a 13inch barrel and put the pws on it..wonder what that would feel like. I don't think I have seen a brake of any kind on a suppressed Scar 17?

Like I said the 17 is overkill but it has a huge wow factor and does a lot well. Not to mention I have a lot more .308 now because of the scar and a bunch of expensive mags.

Maybe SBR it, put the silencerco brake on it, then save up for a 7.62 saker or Specwar (your choice- brake version is dependent on selection, they won't interchange)
Edit: accuracy isn't dependant on barrel length. Short stiff barrels sometimes are more accurate. Velocity is different.

Hmm not a bad idea. Yes I'm more worried about how chopping the chromelined scar barrels holds up and have heard about the chrome flaking off if not done right. its not like and AR where I can just drop $250 on a top end CL barrel.

Not entirely true. You can put Specwar mounts on now, and run either Saker or Specwar cans. SiCo makes an ASR MAAD module that lets you run Saker cans on Specwar mounts. Similar to me using their Y-Mount to run both Sakers and YHM cans on my YHM mounts.

Although, the Specwar mounts are not one hand operation and it's more difficult to tuck the end under a handguard due to the latch, in case that matters.
