My brother and I mess around with smoke, flashbangs, and thermite- legally, of course- so a mortar seems like a natural extension.

They are mostly 3d printed, with the exception of a small Allen screw for a firing pin, a 209 shotgun primer, and some black powder. Smoky is better for a visual impact. Some people have uses other compounds with different additives to give more flash or bang. But you don't want to do anything too risky. The nice thing about mortars is that you aren't usually holding on to the launcher when it fires, and the barrels are thick steel tubes. So if you happen to have a premature detonation in the barrel, it's unlikely to cause an injury with less than 1/4 ounce charge. |
