I’ve come to like pool chemical buckets that have screw down lids for low quantity and 5 gallon buckets for bulk.
|
|
|
For smaller quantities I like the various containers from Dollar tree. The " shoebox" size here being used for LC 556 brass. Note the Margarine tubs in the back, whatever is cheap or better yet, free.
3 gallon and 5 gallon buckets for larger quantities. Attached File |
|
Old protein powder jugs, acro bins, plastic shoeboxes, 40lbs cat litter buckets
|
|
The containers in OP's posting are the same kind I use to store brass. They even work well to store loaded ammo when I do big runs of ammo.
|
|
I use the 5 gallon buckets and the smaller (2.5?) ones.
That being said at some point you should recognize when you have too much. Pretty much every old guy I've talked to at the range has buckets and buckets of brass. Just more for someone to clean up when you are dead. |
|
I use the big kitty litter buckets w/ lids, they are free from friends and stack easily.
Not my pic Attached File |

34 oz plastic mixed nuts containers. I have LOTS of them.
I also use quart ziplock freezer bags. For larger quantities, I use heavy duty gallon ziplock freezer bags. I also use cardboard boxes of various sizes, depending on quantity of that caliber & its status (brand, firing history, etc) For .308 and .30-06, I use 5 gallon plastic pails. |
|
I use 5 gallon buckets with lids for stacking 3 high, and also the large square kitty litter buckets from friends for bulk storage. I also get short square screw buckets (like 2ish gallon size) from a friend who works at a fastener distributor.
Lesser volumes go in usps boxes or repurposed plastic cheese ball containers. |

5 gallon buckets for storage.
The big plastic coffe cans for the various states of processed brass. |

I use 1 gallon zip locks almost exclusively for prepped brass
I use any carboard box or container available for non prepped brass. |

Started using the boxes we get coffee in for stuff I have a lot of. The jug of clean 45 is a cat litter container, and the plastic bins I got for free from the GFs work. |

Not a brass hoarder, have maybe 2k pieces total of 4 calibers, storage is in 1 gallon screw top jars (food service stuff) and 1 gallon ziplock bags. Sometimes the ziplock bags go 2 or 3 into one of the jars. Label with info (sorted, ready to load, needs trimming, etc) on paper in the ziplock or written in sharpie on the jug.

I have a set, wouldn't be without them.
I also added the 380 plate. |

I used the ones in the OPs picture as well as the red and green Folger's coffee jugs.

If you lost it, would you be on Amazon again purchasing it before the day was done? (Kind of what I’m getting at/ looking for) |

I just have a single stage press so I'm not able to do huge bulk reloading unfortunately. Since I don't get to reload more than 100 rounds at a time I just use old coffee cans.
|

I realized the reason I don't have huge containers like kitty litter buckets, because most of my stuff is in various stages of prep.
I use a number system on tape on the front to denote what stage of prep: 9mm/0 would be dirty range pickup with no processing yet. 308/1 would be decapped but not cleaned. 762x39/2 would be decapped and cleaned but not final ready for loading. 308/3 is final brass cleaned and ready to load. |

You win the internet for today. That's very impressive...... I’m thinking of building a shed in the backyard. That way I can pick up a couple more 55 gallon drums and not have so many little 5 gallon buckets around. I also use small plastic bins when the brass is being processed. |

Quoted: Like the OP, my brass gets stored in these containers. They may not look it but they are about 8" X 8" X 12" tall - they hold a lot of cases. I have a bunch of them holding a lifetime's supply of brass. The biscotti are good, too. https://images.costco-static.com/ImageDelivery/imageService?profileId=12026540&imageId=219854-847__1&recipeName=350 View Quote |

If I have to knock it down smaller they go into the larger coffee cans split up. |

For 5 gal buckets, the gamma lids are very nice. They give the buckets an easy screw top lid that's airtight.
