yes i know stupid question, but they are the same bullet right, one is just green and the other red?
No, the green one has the super secret zombie killing compound inside.
I think so to. Just a sales pitch.
Just like Barnes with there 70gr TacX and TSX |
Vmax Zmax are both good bullets for accuracy. After all you have to make all head shots on zombies
its weird that you can get a box of 500 zmax for $64 but 500 vmax are $88
Z-max and V-max are not 100% the same....the Z-max uses the AMP jacket found in their Match bullet line.
Yep They do look cool! The packaging and presentation of a product makes a world of difference.

Last Friday i canceled the order due to the fact they had back ordered the Z-max. I called Midway after i hung up with Midsouth and ordered the same things and got them on Tuesday......just saying |

I have been loading the V-Max per Hodgdons Info for H335 Powder using 55 gr SPR SP Projectile. DO you have any other load data for the V-Max? If so im interested in hearing it. I really didnt know what to use so i started out with the minimum load from Hodgdons load data. I was going to use the same info for the Z-Max. Im up to 25gr of H335 and the best i have shot the V-Max is a 3" group off hand at 100yds. Im not a very good shot. Im going to load up more at that weight with my new digital scale and use a bench rest to test them out. Thanks ETA: 25.3gr of H335 is the max load listed for the 55gr V-Max in the Lee Modern Reloading manual. With a minimum OAL of 2.200 |

Glad to see other people using same load data for z-max because I just did that for my target rifle. The Z-max bullets are insanely cheap. From what I have read the AMP jacket is cheaper to manufacture...but not certain. I use 24.5gr of Varget set to 2.298 in my single shot bolt gun. I get 3200 FPS from that load and it is not even at the max for my rifle...just the best shooting =)

Is that at the range or your back yard? Mail man came at 11 this am, and i just finished working up a few loads for the z-max. i worked up 8 of each, 24, 24.5, 24.8, 25, 25.3 all seated to 2.250
I am hoping i can get out to the range tomorrow to test them out. will post range report if i do. i did notice that the copper jackets seem a little soft, the seating die left pretty bad scratches on some of the bullets and i didn't like the fact that they are not boat tails and are a pain to seat. |

From what I have read the AMP jacket is cheaper to manufacture...but not certain. I use 24.5gr of Varget set to 2.298 in my single shot bolt gun. I get 3200 FPS from that load and it is not even at the max for my rifle...just the best shooting =) I have some Varget, but i never tried it with the V-Max. I tried it with the Hornady FMJBT projos and didnt like the soot that i was getting on all of my fired cases. Do you shoot that load in a AR-15? No, I shoot it in a Savage LRPV. |

Where the tracers fired from a 1:9 16" barrel? If so I'm ordering another 3000 yup, they where Just shot great in my 16" 1:9 too. Here are the chrono results. (I only chrono 1-3 of each as I only made 1-3) LC08 Nato 1x fired brass CCI 41 Primer Pulled M856 loaded to top of cannelure H335 Powder 22.5gr 2622fps 23.0gr 2645fps 2666fps 23.5gr 2700fps 24.0gr 2722fps 2724fps 2722fps I wish I would have made more of the 24.0gr because those velocities were consistent, yes I know thats only 3 rounds At 50 yards they were shooting low left. I have no clue how they were shooting at 100, but I shot one on paper to make sure they were not tumbling. I didn't see any light, but I couldnt tell for sure. |

Thanks for the info. i think i am going to load mine at 24 of h335 just to make it an even number. When testing mine i dident notice them lighting off till around 200 yards, but it was also bright and sunny out. |

anyone else had a chance to load up some z-max's?
Im starting to get worried that my 25.3gr load of h335 is to hot. Everything that i have read says that around 23.8gr is max load for that bullet i dident see any signs of overpressure, but it did feel a little on the warm side, and had an average of 3000 fps which is pretty fast out of a 16" barrel from what i have read. just looking for others info before i crank out 500 or 1k of these |

There should be some out there somewhere. |

I think people had issues with pushing Vmax projectiles too fast in faster twist barrels such as 1:7. I think the projectiles basically rip themselves apart.

I ordered a 500 round box of 55 grain, a 500 round box of 50 grain and a 500 round box of 32 grain 20 cal for a 204 ruger. All Zmax bullets from Chattanooga Shooting Supplies.
I loaded some of the 55's for my 22-250 and used 32.6 grain of Benchmark and 35 grain of Varget. I'll try to see how they work out this weekend if the weather is good. Quoted:
I just recieved my order today from Midway. Im ready to start loading these as soon I get a load worked up just right. They are the very same projectile as the V-Max. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z25/tzapp/bullets/DSC07568.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z25/tzapp/bullets/DSC07569.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z25/tzapp/bullets/DSC07570.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z25/tzapp/bullets/DSC07572.jpg |

the varget work up looks nice. I have 1500 waiting. I think im going to use CFE223 for my work up. Your 27.5 grain load looks great. It got tighter as they sped up.
