Bought our first 10-22 and we'll be upgrading to the TS threaded barrel and a Hogue stock, both OD green. Stock trigger is pretty crappy, and instead of dropping $200+ on a new trigger pack, are there any easy fixes that I can do to lighten and smooth out the trigger pull? $50-60 is about all I want to spend, as we won't be shooting competitions with this thing, just plinking and varmint control.
I know I did an easy fix on my Marlin .17HMR bolt gun that lightened up the trigger in about 5 minutes, and the cost was zero. Thanks in advance. |

the installation of a "competition" hammer is probably the most bang for the buck for improved trigger pull...you can use a drill bit in a hand chuck to slightly deepen the trigger return spring hole in the frame (don't cut coils) and polish the back of the trigger, and round the return plunger as it tracks at an angle... make sure that the firing pin does not have excessive up/down play in the bolt, as it will cause poor accuracy
just a question... what is to be gained by a threaded barrel in an aluminum frame? |

Clark trigger, sear, and hammer. Very affordable upgrade. The stock one will eventually break in, however, it will take a while. I had one that was rough and I am very pleased with the Clark kit. Change the extractor to a Volquartson with a larger hook. Trust me, you need it. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=11335/pid=5020/Product/RUGER-reg-10-22-reg-DELUXE-HAMMER-TRIGGER-KIT?utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=googlebase&mc_id=10000&gdftrk=gdfV21820_a_7c187_a_7c3466_a_7c181377100_d_181377100_d_10914 |

I came here to post this, I have done it to over a dozen 10-22's and it works wonders. One of mine is down to a 1lb pull by following that post, and a little trigger return spring mods. |

Is this the extractor you refer to?? link |

Get over to rfc and start looking. I suggest digging deep since some of the tinkerers have passed away. I have always done everything myself which is free. I reshape and hone the hammer, make the sear adjustable and put a overtravel stop in.
You have a link to a hammer mod and there is also a adjustable hammer mod. Be careful with this one and hammer engagement mods for obvious reasons. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144765 sear diy: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296471&highlight=adjustable+sear http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251077 or buy http://www.rimfiretechnologies.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=RT%2DHSKit For the trigger overtravel and springs there are tons of ways. You can shape the back of the firing pin to keep it from popping up or pin it with the right bits. You basically just remove some material from the bottom to make sure the hammer impacts the top first. Tips and tricks section http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=220 |

For $50-60 send it to a smith and let them rework it. I've had several reworked by swampf0x. For $105 shipped, you can pick up the Kidd drop in and it will be one of the nicest triggers you'll own. I went the Kidd route and couldn't be happier. Force also sells a "trigger job" kit for a little less money than the Kidd. |

The Force kits are essentially Kidd seconds and the price is now within $10 or so of a Kidd. I'd get the Kidd. The guys are Force are a bunch of scumbags. |

Glad I went with Kidd. |
