New guy here. |
| I use bulk 200 gr Hornady FMJs that are intermittently available at Widener's (probably contract overruns - they're not a catalog item). They are much less expensive than small boxes of bullets, IIRC ~$300 for 2800 the last time I bought them. I like to train with full-power loads that behave the same as my defense loads, so I use jacketed bullets exclusively. |

X-tremes on sale at Cabela at 15 or 20% off,, I have couple box of 165's and 2 box of Ranier 165 HP to play with in 40
I have 2 Cabela inside of 55 mile, 3rd is about 85 road mile away I am not really set into coated bullet for my Glock ventures, been doing plated for slight cost reduction over traditional jacket material |

I use X Treme plated or hard cast 180gr for plinking Keep in mind that Xtreme recommends their heavy plate bullets for anything over 1200 FPS for "superior accuracy", though they do say that all their plated bullets should be good for up to 1500 FPS. |

Me, too. Keep in mind that Xtreme recommends their heavy plate bullets for anything over 1200 FPS for "superior accuracy", though they do say that all their plated bullets should be good for up to 1500 FPS. I've shot 10s of thousands of their bullets in my 30 Carbine, 357 leverguns, and 30-30 levergun for plinking (all in the 1,900-2,050fps range) with excellent success. In pistol, I use in my 40s&w, 10mm, 45acp, 45 Super, and 45 Colt with equal success at speeds up to 1,580fps. You just have to understand how to load and crimp for them. |

What kind of distance are you shooting? How cheap do you want to be on bullets?
https://americanreloading.com/en/74-40-caliber-10mm-400-401 I'm shooting mostly 9mm on an indoor range - 25 yards. Since I started using their pulldown stuff, it's gotten cheaper. I reload 10mm and have bought their mixed pulls. Some of the bullets in there were premium. If you watch for specials, it gets really cheap to buy. Plated is plated and pulldowns have worked great for me. |
