I have a GGG magazine cap, and asked Cody if I could ditch the clamp, and he told me 'No'.
it has something to do with rigidity of the Magazine cap. The VC extension being steel.

The factory is poly/plastic, and the GGG is aluminum, so I'm thinking if taking my chances without the clamp.
What could possibly go wrong,,,,,,,

I forgot to mention, at the Symtac class, I had a chance to handle a prototype Beretta stock, that is about an inch shorter than the shortest Magpul stock, and the hand grip was nearly vertical: Very Comfortable to hold and maneuver the gun up, down, twisting side to side.

Unless Magpul does something similar before, I'll be buying the Beretta stock when it becomes available.

Prototype as in something that's actually in the pipeline or just a concept they are playing around with?

Adjustable LOP or just fixed at a short length? I love the Magpul Mossberg SGA stock on the 1301 and don't really need/want something shorter but I'm open to something different if it's potentially better?

Man, you guys,,,,,,

It is a fixed stock, again, where your strong hand would go, is vertical, or nearly vertical, or, more vertical, instead of that what: 45ish degree angle.
It appeared to be a fixed length only.
It was on an A300, but A300 stocks will fit a 1301, but not necessarily the other way.
I was also told, it would have QD's on both sides near the rear, similar to the Magpul.

It really makes the shotgun more comfortable to handle when short stocking - CQB, and more comfortable all around.

Being a little shorter than the shortest Magpul isn't a terrible thing.
One can always do more with a shorter stock, even too short, than a stock that is too long.

I would like to see Magpul do something like this.

I modified a Mesa Tactical six round side saddle and ACRO mount to hold an 8 round side saddle from their Benelli M4 line. Even though the 1301 is a 7+1+1 shotgun, the entire industry for whatever reason has defaulted to a 6 shot side saddle as the standard. That is fine for an 870 but stupid for the 1301. Shell cards are okay but it is a weak solution if you are actually transferring shells via the Velcro holder on to the gun. What I have found is under normal use the Velcro panels do not like to stay in place under recoil or dynamic movement. Additionally the constant attaching and detaching wears out the adhesive, add in the heat and humidity of GA summers and the adhesive failed at least once a month.

The solution for me was a fixed side saddle that gave me extra rounds on the gun. Mesa Tactical makes an excellent shell holder. It has a backplate that is removable to service the rubber strip that holds the shells in place. What I did was exploit this back plate, taking the 8 round side saddle and attaching to the six round back plate. From there I chopped a section off the 8 round side saddle base and screwed it into place. On the front I used some rubber spacer material that gave the front section the rigidity it needed for the shell holder to hold the shells with enough friction. It also works with the Aridus handguard. I ran 300 rounds through this set up this morning, 250 rounds of 00 buck and 50 slugs. Additionally I rammed the side saddle into a wooden post a few times to make sure it wouldn’t fail from impact. At the end I tested to screws for the mount and they were still tight. They were screwed in using blue locktite and torqued to 15 inch lbs.

This is an expensive set up since you have to sacrifice an 8 round side saddle for the parts and the spacer but it is a permanent solution to a problem I have been dealing with for years. I wish Mesa Tactical would just offer an 8 round shell holder or even 7 round would work

MLOK mount
Trex also offers a Picatinny version if you decide to go with the X300.

Surefire

Tail cap

The switch is a Unity Hotbutton that they have since discontinued. They make a similar switch called the AXON SL, you have to get the MLOK mount for it too. IMO the hotbutton is/was better. The AXON cost the same as the hotbutton but it is polymer. I personally don’t like polymer attachments using mlok, I’ve see some polymer MLOK mounts develop cracks with enough use. SF makes a button like switch now that the mount, while polymer is re-enforced with steel. It might be worth a look. Either way you want the 7’’ cable. SF switch

Something to consider that I don’t see talked about on here are the batteries. The rechargeable batteries that come in the new SF DF lights do not hold up well to repeated recoil from a shotgun. It’s better to use the standard 123As even if you lose a little throw and lumens. I also recommend adding an o-ring kit kit to help protect the batteries and internal switches from getting battered under recoil. A good alternative to the Scout series lights is to use an X300T-B. The batteries are not stacked on top of each other and seem to handle recoil better. The new Turbo series has plenty of throw and lumens. Surefire makes a tail switch for the X300 If you go with the X300 you need to go with the B model. The thumbscrew handles recoil much better. Another option is to go with the smaller 340 scout light which uses a single battery. If you go with the 640 or 340, I recommend the dual tailcap. Switches wear out eventually, they get caught on stuff, they get pulled out, they short out. Tape switches are a wear item. Having the extra button on the tail cap with the port means if your tape switch goes down, you don’t loose your light. You will still have a back up.

I'm 99% sure this product doesn't exist, but in case I'm wrong...

Does anyone know of an aftermarket barrel/mag clamp that provides a way to mount a sling on one side and a flashlight on the other WITHOUT having to remove them to remove the barrel clamp itself for disassembly? In other words, something like the OEM clamp, but it doesn't suck?

I ask because all the clamps I can find, including the one I use (Nordic), place the clamp attachment screws under MLOK slots etc. This requires first removing the flashlight mount, then the QD sling mount, and only then can you access the clamp screws to remove the barrel clamp to disassemble the gun.

Of course, I may be retarded and there's a way to disassemble without removing the barrel clamp that I don't know of. If so, feel free to let me know that as well.

Got a few things on order from LTT, as soon as they arrive I’ll be installing them and update everyone with so pictures. I went with their fastback optic mount for the Aimpoint footprint. I have a Steiner MPS ready to go. They have a really great price on the GGG mount at $50, but went ahead with the fast back hopefully I made a good choice.

I also have their Hand guard with the wire management system that works with the factory forend.

Any thoughts on Aridus vs. GG&G stock adapters?  I saw this was discussed briefly on page 5, but I'm not sure whether there are appreciable differences.  GG&G seems to be in stock and at a lower cost whereas Aridus seems sold out except for some stores I am not familiar with at nearly twice the GG&G cost.

It looks like the Aridus is now 3D printed plastic?

ETA: For what it's worth, it looks like Langdon is now using GG&G instead of Aridus.

No he didn’t. He started out with Aridus stock adapters and zukhov handguards and that was what was used for about a year. They had a public falling out over on pistol forum a few years ago. Langdon wasn’t happy that Aridus couldn’t keep up with demand and apparently Langdon had some design changes he wanted implemented and Aridus refused to make those changes. Langdon went to GG&G and had them produce what was essentially a straight ripoff of the Aridus design. At the same time Aridus upgraded the design of the Zuk handguards to a Gen 2 design and switched from aluminum for the stock adapter to a polymer adapter. The advantage is it speeds up production time by eliminating the aluminum parts like the stock adapter and the aluminum forend adapter on the orginal Zuk design. The down side is the entire system is less durable over all. There have been quite a few instances of the Gen 2 Zuk forend adapter cracking under recoil due to the load. A Surefire Scout light on a Arisaka offset mount is enough to cause the polymer forend adapter to crack.

This is why I recently upgraded to the Aridus aluminum handguard. While mine is excellent and the tolerances are good, there have been people who have received rails that the tolerance between the 1301 and the handguard are such that it doesn’t seat properly and shifts under recoil. I ended up going with a Rowe Tactical stock adapter. It is aluminum, made in America. Because of what GG&G did early on to Aridus with copying his IP and all, I’d rather not give them any business.

The Rowe Tactical adapter is very nice.

@MK318

Thank you for that rundown.  Does Rowe offer (or is it compatible with) the bolt buffer, which both Aridus and GG&G seem to offer?

It does. Just like the others. My 1301 has been totally rebuilt with the Rowe adapter and the Mossberg SGA, I’ll post pics later on today.

Thank you, sir.  If you don't mind posting the adapter thickness or LOP with it, I would appreciate it.  It seems that Aridus at 0.95" gives a ~12.3" LOP and the GG&G adds ~0.25" to that LOP.  Wondering how Rowe compares.

IIRC Langdon has always used the GG&G stuff

I couldn’t tell you. My GG&G adapter was for a Remington SGA so the angle is different. I’ve read on a few sites the Rowe Tactical is the thinnest but I have yet to come across any actual measurements. I can’t find my calipers either so I can’t really measure it out. What I will say it feels significantly shorter than my GG&G adapter with the 870 SGA. Overall I’m happy with my RT adapter. I have about 120ish rounds through it since installing it a couple weeks ago.

I also have their Hand guard with the wire management system that works with the factory forend.

I’m very impressed with the LTT optic mount, it fit perfectly. I also like the location of the backup rear sight forward of the optic.

Thanks for the photos. I have a spare MPS on the bench going to give this a shot as well. Is that the stock clamp on the mps? I know apex makes an aftermarket one.

Stock clamp. I’m new to the MPS is there an issue with the clamps? I originally looked at the RCR but due to the extra height it doesn’t co witness and might even block the back up rear sight on the LTT mount.

Not that I am aware of. I was just wondering because it looked a little larger and I remember that an apex one exists so i figured maybe you were trying it out.

I'm not SBS'ing my 1301.
If one wanted a reliable semi auto SBS, I'd think about doing a Form 1 on a Mossberg 990, which I am thinking about.

I’m looking to finally pick one of these up.  Is there a reason that some of them are $1200 and others are $1700 or more?  I’m talking what look like identical models. Is there like a gen 2.5. Kind of like how the gen one had a revised model?   Why are some of them 5 round and others are 7 round?

Went to the store today planning on buying an A300 ultima patrol.  They also had a 1301 mod 2.  Although visually identical, it was night and day with the bolt.  That sold me on the 1301.  So far I've ordered:

-Briley Handgard
-Briley life saver round set up
-Aridus Charging handle and bolt release
-GG&G mag tube and barrel clamp

I think I'm OK with the stock for now.  I haven't really seen one I'd like.

I was hoping someone more knowledgeable would answer you yesterday, but I'll tell you what I think I know.

Short answer: According to Beretta, it's the same gun.  I don't think there is a reason to pay more for the more expensive models (provided equal magazine length).

Longer answer: Beretta originally offered the 1301 as a five-rounder.  This was based on its precursor, the Tx4 Storm.  People started adding magazine extensions, and I believe Beretta was answering the demand when they started offering the seven-rounder.  Of course, by that point, popularity had surged and Beretta increased the MSRP accordingly.  You may be aware of the import challenges, which choked the supply chain for a bit.  Beretta's solution, according to them*, was to change the model designations.  Based on what I've read here, they also changed where they made or sourced some parts.  Hence, the most recent versions, which I suppose you could call a gen 2.5 without consequential differences, have a C designator in the model number.  I do not believe that the price disparities have anything to do with the quality of the product, but are likely related to inventory considerations.  Therefore, I would go with the best price.

*A few months ago, I called Beretta and asked them about the difference between two of the black, seven-round models.  They appeared exactly the same, except one of them having the C in the model number.  They told me that it is the exact same gun, but they changed the model number for import reasons.  I asked the question in two or three different ways, but they repeated the same answer.

Most of them are available with chokes.  If you look at the specifications, it should be clear what has a choke and what does not.  I'm fairly certain that the ODG and FDE come with chokes, while the black LE comes with an open cylinder.  I cannot remember whether there is a black non-LE version, but again, look at the specifications because it should be clear.

Nope. I wish Beretta would just sell the one from the Marine Raider version.
