I just got a new pietta 1860 army and i am having trouble taking it apart. I cant get the barrel wedge to come out, is there some type of technique to take it out?

You did loosen the screw?
After that give the wedge a hard rap with rubber mallet or handel of screwdrive to tap it out. Note it only comes out one direction.
