I have a .22rf barrel that I've recently had threaded that measures exactly .5 inches, thus it's tight for every attachment from a suppressor to a flash hider.  The same devices that are tight on the .5 fit nicely on another "factory" threaded 1/2 * 28 barrel that measured .496.  I've got an AAC prodigy, that I use to jump from .22 to .22, and I'm afraid that this .5 inch barrel will open up the core's threads.  I have actually used anti-seize on the threads to ease fitting.

What is the tolerance for 1/2*28?

I'm tempted to get an old flash hider and some valve grinding compound and go to work getting it down to at least .498.

Thoughts?

Any thoughts on what kind of problems may be presented by not seating a blackout (not for the prodigy obviously) all the way down .6 on the barrel?  I've got a few applications where less than .6 is threaded.  It would seat on the shoulder and leave a moderate gap between the muzzle & blackout where there would otherwise be a very small gap.

With that larger gap you want to stay away from frangible ammo or really nasty ammo, as carbon and or bits of frangible ammo can build up in the gap and rub the next bullets as it goes by.

You can avoid this by removing the Blackout and cleaning the "gap" every now and again.
