picked up 25 rounds of 223 at a garage sale woman said her husband reloaded his own ammo he passed away
this was all that was left of his shooting gear.
I measured these shells oal is 2.257 same as new pmc but shell diameter is .374-.376 thousanths compared to a new pmc at .371
My question is are these safe to shoot in a ar platform or will they get stuck in the chamber.I have no problems with my m4 clone
even with wolf but the extra .005 thousanths of an inch got me concerned.Anybody know inside diameter of a ar15 chamber.

5.56 chamber spec are for ~ 0.380"-0.381".

The 0.374"-0.376" is fine.

Shooting unknown reloads is just asking for trouble. Is your gun or your body worth saving $10 worth of ammo? Pull it apart and keep the components.

What headstamp is on the cases?  Just curious.

Don't shoot these unknown reloads.

Ditto.   Those rounds may be the ones he accidentally loaded with pistol powder and set aside to rework, just before he gave up the hobby or passed away.

I wouldn't shoot those if you paid me.

Well, I take that back.  I'd shoot them if you paid me, let me use your rifle, and I had it set up in a rest with a string on the trigger.

I'll bet the old man died from a bad reload.

Four words: Collet-style bullet puller.  Toss the powder-on your lawn; it's good fertilizer.  Then load the remaining components appropriately.

I almost pulled down 100 rounds of my own .38s last week because I didn't know what the load was.  Turned out the label had stuck to the boxes ON TOP of the boxes of .38s and the loads were cool.  But NEVER shoot something that someone else-especially someone you didn't know WELL- loaded.  Never, ever.

+1, pull them down and start over.

After bullet is pulled and powder dumped, check each case in a case gauge to be sure sizing is GTG.
