A 22TCM has been added to the gun collection, because someone thought that it would be a 'fun gun' to have and shoot.  I have not found much on dies and reloading information on this caliber. Anyone do any loading for the 22TCM?  Where did you get the dies, how do you like them?  What bullets/powder in recommended for 'general plinking' rounds?
It looks like it could be a challenge to load for.

I've got two 1911s with 22tcm and 9mm barrels.  I like the 22tcm, is fun in a loud way.  I've loaded using armscor bullets and I cast my own and powder coat and gas check.  About 10 to 11grains of H110 works well.  Don't get too heavy a load.  I have made my own cases from 223 but is not a lot of fun.  I usually buy most of my cases and reload factory cases.

I have both Lee and Hornady die sets.  Hornady were expensive and first I could get. Lee popped up later and I got set. Either work fine. I use Lee to deprive on a Lee SS, and the Hornady on my Dillon 650xl.  My cast do shoot well enough also.

I have the rifle. I have loaded the armscor 40g, the hornady 40g vmax, the 35g nosler varmageddon and most recently the 30g barnes varmint grenades.

I have tested from 9 to 11.3 grains of h110 with the 40g before I got pressure signs. Most accurate was the 35g noslers, I haven't tested the 30g bullets yet. I have gone as far as .1g differences to check for pressure signs. People on 22tcm.net have gone up to almost 13g of H110. I never got close to that.

I bought lee dies first and they chewed up my brass. Sent them back and got the Redding. I also got a neck sizer because I shoot the bolt rifle.

The 1911 is on my short list to get. I want to shoot these out of a pistol!

This is the loads I have tested. Green was good, red was over pressure.

I have a 22tcm rifle and it is fun to shoot.

I have quickload and worked up the specs in the program.

Getting real good results with 2400 powder.  Lil gun and blue dot didn't work out as well.

I have the Hornday dies, didn't know about the lee dies.

Load data is pretty thin right now.

I bought one with a bad barrel.  Very shallow rifling, and I can feel a start/stop of a reamer or button in the bore.  My best bench technique produces about 3" group with factory ammo.  With factory ammo, bolt lift is very hard and I have to get above the rifle to lift the bolt.

There are Armscor bullets available for cheap, about $9/100.  Guys are claiming decent sub-moa groups with the bullets and factory ammo, so it is not the bullets.

The short action/223 bolt face is too nice a feature to give up on  The barrel on there now is unusable.  I am thinking of rebarreling it with a premium barrel or to 30 luger/mauser.  If possible, I might stretch the magazine to 221 fireball.

Finished my testing of the 40g armscor bullets and the 30g barnes bullets.

armscor bullets did best at 10.7g - 10.8g of H110. Group was just under 2 inches.

30g barnes did best at 11.4 to 11.8g H110. Further testing needed.

I think there is something wrong with my rifle. 5 rounds will go downrange looking to be a sub moa group, then the next 2 or 3 rounds will be 3 inches away grouped together. Scope is tight, I don't think its me. Maybe the rifle needs bedded?

How are you prepping your brass?

Same headstamp or mixed?

I want to mod my Axis 223 to a 22TCM. Chop the barrel at the chamber end and set it back and rechamber.

Make a replacement bolt face that relocates the ejector so the brass won't pop out too soon on extraction.

Make a bolt on mag well that will use a TOKAREV 7.62X25 TTC TT33 8 Round Magazine to feed from.

- - - Its going to happen, just need to free up some cash for the mags and chamber ream.

It's grouped. Either all armscor or converted lc brass.

I don't mix the 2 in my load development.

Case prep is the same.  Neck sizing and weighing every change.  Same primers etc.

Cases trimmed to same length? Deburred?

Bullets started straight into case?

Not cocked and let the seating die straighten them out?

Crimping? How much? With what?

yes, trimmed every firing with a try way trimmer set up exactly like I use for my 556 reloading.

to the best of my ability. I don't have an "m die"

Crimping? How much? With what?

no crimp. I single feed them into the rifle as they are usually beyond mag length with any bullet besides the factory bullets.

I only neck size this round. Hand weigh every charge.

More detail goes into these than my 556 and 300 rsaum reloads and they shoot well.

The 22TCM  we have shoots well and is fun.  The challenge now is to find loading material and components!  It good to see/follow how other are proceeding with this.  Lots to learn!

I've been wondering about this round for a while - thanks for all the info!

I stumbled across some fellow Arcomers testing & discussing this hot little round in this thread:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_5_4/173397_-9mm--5-7x28mm--22TCM--TCM9R--22WMR--VS-Steel.html

Looks like there will be 2 versions:  one for 1911-type guns (OAL to 1.260+) and another with bullets suitable for 40/9mm (max OAL 1.169").
