Thats pretty much how I made this one.  I had the local hardware store cut the 2x4's and the 2x12's I used for the top.  Then I cut a piece of plywood with a circular saw and it was just putting together after that.

I mounted the press by putting the biggest washers I had on the under side of the table and then used wing nuts in case I ever need to take the press off for more room.

Be aware of how and where the mounting holes are for your press.

You don't want the holes to end up close to the edge of a single piece of wood.  It increases bench top flex.  Thus, some folks will get a wider piece of wood (2x12" or 2x6" vs. 2x4").  Also, as you re-size some big cases it stresses the bench top and may crack the wooden top along a "growth ring."  Pick your wood wisely.  Then, some folks have added a plywood top (glued) to the base wood in an effort to prevent splitting.  And, some have just glued together two sheets of 3/4" ply together for a top.  There are many way to deal with the problem.

Note that in the pictures above, it shows that the mount's pressure is being spread over two different pieces of wood.  That's good.  Plus, the fact that he is using the accessory steel mount, gives the press a larger "foot print."   And, the mount can bring the press to a more comfortable level.  Plan for a "comfortable height" in your calculations.

HTH.  As always YMWV.

I've been using one of these kits for about 2 years now, and it works fine.  It was easy to put together, though it might be excessively overbuilt (I think it can hold a thousand pounds).  You can make it any size, I bought 2'x4' 3/4" plywood for the shelves and got them to colormatch the paint on a piece of the linkage. For those who don't know, these are kits available from Northern Tool.
