| Hello guys, I'm in the process of loading a batch of rounds for two of my 308's, and my question is, would I be better off with standard or magnum primers? The loads I've chosen are definitely not a hot by any means 39.5 Grains of IMR 4895 behind a Nosler 168 grain HPBT and the second load is 41 grains of IMR 4895 behind a Hornady 150 grain BTSP. So what do you guys think? |
| Your 150 load is almost under the limit. BTW I have found 4895 shoots best the hotter get it. Use the data from the Hogdon, IMR, Winchester page with care. The 4895 loads there are very hot! I run my 150 Accubonds loads with 44.5 grn of IMR 4895 which is a max load according to Nosler. In my rifle it will flatten a primer slighty if I use Remmy 9.5s. With Winchester LR primers it is fine. Work up to it for your rig. |
