What would a good load be for an 06 with a 22"bbl and 1-10 twist? Bolt action.

I would try a few different bullets and powders in different weights and see which works the bet for you. As an example, I just loaded 40 rounds of 30-06 for my Rem 700. I loaded 150 grain Sierra Matchking HPBT bullets. 10 round batch with 45.5 grains of IMR 4895, then another 10 rounds with 46 grains, then 46.5 grains, then 47 grains. If I like the results from one batch I will continue to load that, but most likely I will try the same method with 165, 168 or 175 grain bullets.

IMR 4350 is the "go to" powder... H4350 is also good, and less temperature sensitive.

With the IMR 4350, in Winchester brass... go with 59.0 grains and 150 grain bullets... 57.5 grains and 165 grain bullets... or 56.0 grains and 180's (heavier recoil on this last load).  Work up from about 7% below those levels, but those charges should all be very accurate in a decent rifle.

Can't argue with any of the above, but I would add that H4831SC and 180 Sierra GameKings is a tough combo to beat in my '06.

There is no good answer until you state what is the target.  Paper, coyotes, moose, mulies, goats, hogs, whitetails, elk, plinking????  You use diferent bullets and loads for diferent purposes. Depends on the target and distance.

Sorry, wrote that kinda quick. The shooting will be paper. Actually loading some up for my BIL, he will be doing the finnishing. I have H4895,Varget,BLC2 and RE 15. 150,168 and 175 SMK. The rifle is a Mossberg (404)? He has been shooting factory loads, Remmington 125s and 150s. Just trying to find a decent load. So he can outshoot me. I have a Rem 5R .308.
