Other than the obvious 3X magnification, what effect does the 3X lens have on the PVS-14? Does it increase the performance of the image, degrade the image, etc. How do they affect the light-gathering capabilities of the device (i.e. does it enhance or hinder the capabilities of an IR illuminator like the Surefire M952V). I've got a chance to pick-up a new Mil-Spec one cheap, but don't want to get something that I'm never gonna use. It'll be weapon-mounted, so weight won't be a concern.
Anybody have any experience? |
| The 3x is great to have. Any time you add magnification to a scope you take away some performance and light gathering ability. The Mil-spec 3x afocal has great glass and works very well. I use them all the time . It does take away some performance as all magnification but this effect is reduced by the good optics of the 3X afocal. |
