Anyone ever have any problems with a 3 lug adapter on the barrel being too small.  I bought a 5" Lothar Walther barrel from spikes with a 3 lug mount about 5 months ago and just got my stapm back for a SWR Trident 9.  the 3 lug adapter won't lock up on the barrel and I don't really know if It's the mount or the adapter.  The adapter just spins on the barrel and it seems like the lugs are too short and won't catch on the sides to lock in place.  Just wanting to see if anyone else has had the same problem.

The spring and plunger is in the adapter, right? When you push the can with adapter on the barrel, is there spring resistance? You're supposed to push it on against the spring and plunger, turn it to move the 3 lugs in alignment with the "notches" and not the slots in the adapter.

ETA:

Check out the Trident manual here:

Trident Manual

Make sure all of the parts are in the 3-lug adapter (found on page 1) and make sure you are following the directions for installation.

Yes, everything is in the mount.

I took the mount apart and slid it over the lugs to see if I could tell what the problem was.  It looks like the lugs don't stick out far enough to catch the sides on the mount to lock it in place.

That is weird, I would return it and try something else maybe. I use a TROS three-lug barrel with my SWR Trident 9 with no issues. My Cohaire Mp5 clone three-lug barrel was slightly out of spec, oversized, but I was able to get it to work using sandpaper to get rid of the finish on the barrel.

I've heard of manufacturers making barrels with out of spec lugs (too small) which in turn, would round off the aluminum locking plates to the point where the suppressor would not lock up.

I've also seen this.  I've seen quite a few three-lug mounts on barrels that were out of spec.  So many in fact that the only ones I'd trust are the TROS-USA and factory HK.  Other than those it is a crap shoot.

Just my experience though.

I purchased all of mine from Gemtech.  1/2x36, 1/2x28, and even one for my GSG-5P SBR.  Have been flawless for me.

I put the Trident on an Mp5 with navy style 3 lug and it was fine.  It did seem like there was some play in it though.  My dealer had a YHM can there with 3 lug mount and it locked up solid on my 3 lug barrel.  Going to give SWR and Spikes a call to see what they can do.  Thanks for the help
