I am in the market for a new ballistic helmet and came across the 3M helmets.  I am looking at their ultra light weight ballistic bump and their combat high cut ballistic helmet. Anyone have any hands on with them? It looks like they are running the team Wendy suspension systems and shroud, but I am not sure. I am also looking for a distributor for them.

thx

3M bought Ceradyne and all their assets. Anything that's Ceradyne is 3M so should be gtg

I have not seen the ULW Bump on the market yet.

Slick helmet - definitely want to handle one myself.

That helmet in the link above is the same I bought, try to get it with a coupon they send out every now and again. I can't speak for fit due to it being with my parents back CONUS, but my dad seems to think it is well made and as stated above, has a Ceradyne tag on the inside.

Never looked into these, but I'm surprised their not more popular. Looks like a 2001 ACH cut but lighter and cheaper than the FAST helmets with the same ballistic rating. ($400 for a base helmet, $630 with accessories).

Now the ULW looks awesome

The gunfighter listed on uscav is not the same helmet that I'm speaking of. The newer 3m helmets have the Team Wendy suspension system. I just need to find a distributor other then BOTACH, I will never do any business with them again.

Well I have a email to 3M about contacting a distributor and possibly getting one for T&E since my team has been looking at new helmets and these are priced better then the ops core, Crye, and team Wendy helmets. So when I get me hands on one I'll work on doing a write up.

Already gents, so today I got my hands on a demo 3M high cut ballistic. The rep brought the 3m helmet along with a United shield high cut and a Team Wendy Exfil ballistic. Right off the bat the 3m won with the Team Wendy cam fit over the united shield, plus the 3m is less expensive then the United shield. For the 3m pads, it's has pads that are found in the mich or any standard issue helmet. I don't mind the pads at all, but when I tried on the Exfil with the epic air pads it's was a night and day difference. The little time I had the epic pads on my head, I fell in love.

So I wore the 3m for a couple hours during training and I had not head aches. With my ops core bump I get raging head aches and pain around my temples, which is caused by the vertical plastic piece that connects to the rear screws. The team Wendy cam fit wins for me. The weight of the helmet is much lighter compared to the mich I have, and that is even with comms on the 3m. I only have a couple hour in the helmet, so once I get more time with it I can give a better opinion.

I have the demo m3 for a couple weeks, so I'll keep you all filled in and will post some pics in short time to come. I'm going to try to get my hands on a 3m light weight ballistic bump helmets next.

I had a team Wendy bump helmet and it was the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn, I'm wondering could the TW pads be used in the 3M?

Yes, the way it appears the epic air would fit. I am thinking about buying the epic air out of my own pocket while paying for the 3m helmet with the agencies dime.

They are similar with the 3m weighing a little more, but the 3m suspension system is much better suited for my head. Like I said before the Ops Core helmets give me a raging head ache after wearing them for about a hour.

So I got back from shot show last week. Got my hands on the ultra light weight ballistic bump at the 3m booth. HOLY CRAP, was that helmet light! I literally thought I was holding my ops core bump helmet, but it was 3A rated. I was all googly eyes and happy until I asked the price point......$1300 ish MSRP.

While I was there, I looked at several other helmets that were similar. Another option that is similar the M3 ULWBB was the Armorsource Ultra light weight high cut ballistic helmet. The weight felt identical to the 3m helmet and the price tag did too.

So as of now I am leaning towards the the TW Exfil (which I have in hand now), and the United Shield Spec Ops Delta.

Sounds like the ULWB is priced competitively with the OC Maritime.

I likewise got to handle the 3M helmet, along with several others (Revision, Pro-Tech, OpsCore, etc.).  After weighing the cost, features and capabilities the TW Exfil Ballistic would be my #1 pick.

Nothing else on the ultra light weight bump from 3m. My distributor has yet to get his hands on one. I have had the TW ballistic as a demo the last couple of weeks and really wish I could pinch it into my budget this year, but buy a 40 mike mike and munitions hurt a bit. So far I am a big fan of the TW, but for the same padding, suspension system and little more weight, I can get my hands on a untied shield delta for $650 with a wilcox three hole shroud and arc rails. So that price is hard to beat. The weight is important to me because I do run a PVS-14 and counter weight when I put the helmet to work.

I did not see the new protech. That's interesting. Based on the rest of the new super light weight helmets, I bet its in the same price range of $1000+

I don't mind spending the extra coin on the TW, but I have to ask is the juice really worth the squeeze seeing they use the TW system? The other thing is that the TW accessories cost more as well.

No I don't think the juice is worth the extra squeeze, seeing how the Untied shield helmet has everything I was looking for in the TW exfil. I did just remember the united shield suspension system is not exactly the TW, but is united shields own boa system that is almost exactly the same. the only difference was you can reverse out the boa instead of pulling the knob and releasing.

I wouldn't really call it temples plastic, there is a vertical piece of plastic that going to the mounting screws and that is what gives me head aches. the plastic pieces sits right behind your ear, to opposite side from your temple. Last week my brother wore my ops core for a bit while we were hog hunt and he had the same issue. The Lux Liner has the same vertical plastic piece.

So far my conclusion in this whole thing is I will not wear any ops core suspension systems again. I actually will be selling a ACH/MICH Occ dial liner in the near future and sell my ops Core base jump for a TW exfil bump.

I'm still waiting on getting my hand on the untied shield spec ops delta, but I am hoping the sales rep for got he left me with his TW Exfil ballistic.....just kidding.
