whats every one think about a 40mm... lmt plus stamp or spikes plus stamp and boar it out to 40?

Depends on whether you want a no shit M203 or a (admittedly capable) flaregun bored out to 40mm.  With the LMT option it is significantly more expensive, but it provides for a rifled barrel, cocking on closing the action, and is a no shit grenade launcher.  The Spike's option is pretty sexy in its own right coming in at under $500, you have a side opening barrel but a smooth bore with manual cocking and a very basic safety.  One thing Spike's has in its favor at the moment (other than the obvious monetary savings) is the standalone option. That said, LMT told me at SHOT show that they would be coming out with a standalone option sometime this summer.

Now, barring any requisite ARFCOM drama with regard to Spike's behavior immediately after Obama's election, if you want a basic but capable 40mm DD, by all means go with the Spike's tactical flaregun (request the beefier barrel when you order it) and bore it out to 40mm after the tax stamp comes in.  Otherwise, if this is definitely something you're going to treasure, save up and get a no shit military spec M203 grenade launcher.  What you don't want to do is have to pay the tax stamp twice.  The choice is 6 one, half a dozen the other.

When it's all said and done... they will both fire 40mm ammo... If you want it to hand down, as an item of value, go with the real deal. If you want to have fun, beat it up, and shoot whatever... go the cheap route. It's all up to personal preference. There are several real 203/79 options too. You can buy an already made LMT or 79, or you can piece a receiver, or you can go the real expensive route, and buy Colt. Good luck, and happy hunting. GROG

Imho i would just go straight for the LMT. I waited for my havoc for about 2 months and was alittle disappointed by the quality. maybe i got a botched one but i had to do some serious fitting to get the fire control group to the point where i was happy with the function. initially every time i switched the safety from safe to fire the thing would go off. definitely not cool!! i got tired of it and dropped to cash on a LMT and couldn't be happier. I got a 37mm barrel from randy shivak and got to mess with it before sending in the paperwork for the tax stamp. I think thats the way to go. It might be more money initially but you'll be happier in the long run. I guess i learned the hard way, or atleast the more costly way.

just my 2 cents
