I am going to be loading 44 mag for the first time.  I am looking for the best accuracy I can get.  Not concerned about hunting or anything at this time.  I will be using a Blackhawk with a 5.5" barrel.  What are your suggestions?

What bullet will you be using?  I use win 296, as#9 and true blue

Light, medium, or full load?

Lead or jackated bullet?

I use 10.0 gr of Unique with the Lee 200gr RNFP, sized .432" for my plinking load.

I use 22.0 gr of H110 with the 265gr Ranch Dog bullet, sized .432" for my full power load.

Both of these loads are safe and shoot well in my .44's.

YMMV

I have accurate plinking loads using a slow moving 200 grain lead bullet.  A fast medium load using H110 and a 240grain jacketed soft point, and a really heavy load using H110 and a 320 grain LWNFP

7 1/2" BlackHawk––23 grains of Win 296, CCI 350 primer, Hornady 240 XTP's. Shoots good in the pistol and carbine rifle.

I will probably be loading up some lead and also some jacketed.  Open to all bullets at this time.

I used to use a Sierra #8600 180gr JHC with 25.5gr 2400 & CCI 350 primer. Very accurate and very fast 1725fps in my 7 1/2" Super Blackhawk. I started out using this load many years ago and had a lot of fun shooting ground hogs with it.
The longest standing shoot I ever made on a whistle pig was about 50 yards but I shot one from a sitting position a little over 100 yards once. Its harder to find chucks these days with all the coyotes making dinner out of them now.
Nowadays  though, I only use the Hornady 240gr JHP because its so close in weight to the cast bullets I make. The 240gr Hornady's and my .430dia 250gr Keith bullets are very accurate too.
Its really hard to find a bad bullet for this cartridge unless you use a soft lead bullet that's loaded too fast.

I'm running Magtech 240 Gr. SJSP's over anywhere from 10.8 - 12 grains of unique.
12 was a hot full power load and I noticed some extraction difficulty out of my S&W 629.

Bugger really shoots flame out the front too.......
