My google/search-fu is not working tonight. Is there a faq, thread or webpage describing the differences between the 50BMG standard and match chambers? Pros and cons of one over the other? I can -guess- that the match chamber has tighter dimensions than the standard chamber which would lead to requiring more care in ammo selection/reloading, but I hate guessing. --David |

I cant give you a link either. But I have a Bohica FAR-50 on order. What the gents before me have said about the fact you will not be able to use Milsurp is correct along with I would not try any commercial rounds. I was told by Chris, that I want my shells to have a neck of no larger than .550. So doing the math of bullet that is .510" wide. So this leaves us with a neck wall thickness of no more than .02". So you will have to turn the necks of all of your brass. But the advantage is that with uniform neck wall thickness is that the bullet will be released in a more uniform manner. Not cocked over because the neck did not expand at the same rate from one side to the other. People without a match chamber would benefit from neck turning too. They just might not have to thin the neck as much as a person with a match chamber. It all depends on how much work you are willing to do to squeeze out every last bit of accuracy from your rifle. |

Match chambers will have a tighter neck. You will need to neck turn the brass to get the round to chamber. Your lead angle and throat will be tighter also. I have a standard chamber reamer and a Match reamer. You can see the difference with the naked eye in regards to the lead and throat. |
