I'm looking at getting a 522 SD, but need to know what the difference is between the standard SD and the lightweight. ATI's website doesn't say and I'm hoping to learn more here.

Hi,
the light weight has a polymer receiver instead of a metal one, reducing the weight. GSG designed them to be a bit easier for kids to hold while shooting and we've got a couple hundred of them out there so far. The light weight should also be a little less expensive, as it is when we distribute it, but the end selling price is determined by the dealers selling the gun so ultimately its on them. The over all weight is the only difference, everything else is the same. Its about a pound and a half lighter than a metal receiver. |
