I have a Mossberg 590, the one with the barrel shroud, and no ghost-rings.  Problem is, I have a plastic triggerguard, and plastic safety.  I contacted Mossberg about getting replacement parts, they said to send them the shotgun, along with 80 bucks, and they'd take care of it for me, seeing that the parts are "restricted" (WTF?)  Anyone know of an alternate source for stuff like this?  And why the hell is a safety and triggerguard "restricted"?
Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

Alternate source: No

Why Restricted: Liability. It's the built in lawyer. They don't want to take the chance of you installing it incorrectly and blowing up the gun and yourself. They will pretty much only sell you barrels and buttstock/forend parts. Everything else they want to do it in house.

On a side note. The experience that I've had with Mossberg Customer Service was excellent. They really will take care of you.

Bah.  How hard is it to install a triggerguard or safety?  Either isn't hard on a Remington 1100.  Sheesh.  Anyone else?

Brownells didn't have it (at least on their website) and gunpartscorp was sold out of them.  Yeesh.  What a nightmare.

ok another idea... how about getting one of those gunsmith things that they send in the mail?

did you try ebay or gunbroker?

maybe have your FFL order the parts for you?

They may be "restricted" also because (I thought) that the metal pieces you mentioned are only available on the military and police versions of their shotguns, which, for the most part aren't illegal for civilians to own, but aren't marketed to us civies.

I don't understand why they don't put these parts on all their 590s.  I would think it would be more cost efficient just to have all the trigger guards made of one material.
