I think a DCM service grade was like $600 when the Inc rifles were like $900. The rules changed about civilian sales of mil surplus in the late 80's which opened up DCM mil sales at lower prices than the Inc rifles. |

| That is definitely a commercial Springfield built M1, probably with a cast receiver. No special collector value, unless some USGI parts with collector value were used in the build. The highest number USGI M1 every observed was 6100499. Anything above that is assumed to be a commercial gun unless verified by the experts associated with the CMP or GCA. |
