After a discussion I had with a friend the other it left us both wondering.
Can you complete an 80% lower, put a SN on it, and then form 1 to make it an SBR? My thought is that you should be able to, but I just wanted to see what you guys had to say. Thanks, Pike |

Yes it's legal to form 1 a sbr from an 80% (or 0% for that matter). You will be the maker so all the info will be yours and then needs to be either stamped or engraved into the lower. The following needs engraved: name (or trust/corp/etc.), location (city, state), serial #, caliber, model # (if you designate one).
Most don't go this route as the benefit of an 80% build is a lack of a paper trail and/or the ability to have a clean rifle free of any marks, and a 80% typically is more expensive than a stripped lower. |
