| How does Remmington install the mag tube on their receivers? Weld in? Brazed? Tell me that it's not machined in 1 piece! |
|
Factory jig to hold it perfect. The tube is then brazed to the receiver. If the tube needs replacement, very hard to do outside of the factory.
Tube can get damaged when trying to smooth out the magazine tube divots while driving a socket into the tube, trying to iron out the divots. That's why drilling the divots out is preferred |

To replace a magazine tube Remington totally strips the receiver. Thar includes removing the ejector assembly and the shell releases.
The new tube is positioned with a special alignment jig to insure the tube is perfectly aligned with the receiver to insure the barrel will fit properly. If the tube is even slightly misaligned the barrel support ring won't fit over the tube or it'll force the barrel out of line. The entire receiver, tube, and jig are put in a temp controlled furnace and a special high temp brazing compound is used to braze the tube in place. After brazing the ejector and shell releases are reinstalled and the entire assembly is refinished. |
