Get the Mesa Tactical pictinney rail for the 870.  It is receiver length and made for the 870 so the holes even match the 870 receivers that are drilled and tapped.   It is only $20.

As for your question, any rail designed for the 870 will fit.

I don't understand what you are needing.  The rail would have to be contoured to the top of the receiver to fit properly.  I am guessing by the lack of response, other don't understand either.  If you don't want a manufactured rail built for the 870 then I don't understand what you are trying to do.  Good luck with the project.

i have a drawing that i have done of an actual MCS picatinny rail.  I have the drawing sheet of where to drill the receiver for the rail.  i need the dimension for the receivers top radius (where the rail would mount).  that dimension will allow me to mill the bottom of teh rail to fit the contour of the receiver.  i do want a rail and i am going to manufacture it, out of steel and a copy of the MCS one, that is why i need the dimension (unless i can buy a MCS one for cheap)
