I noticed tonight that my ejector spring is sticking out from the channel that it sits in. Is this normal?

It looks like this   (copy and paste) http://www.gunsumerreports.com/Remington_870_Express_Tactical/Remington_870_Express_Tac_72.JPG

Is this normal? Is the spring supposed to sit flush all the way down the channel or is it supposed to stick into the receiver a little bit? It seems to cycle shells fine, although I haven't fired it in a long time.

Looks normal. The bolt holds the back end of the spring closer to the receiver when it’s all assembled.
As long as the ejector spring is not twisted out of the channel you should be GTG

As above, this is completely normal for the 870.

Ok. Thanks for the replies. I was cleaning it and a patch got hooked on it. Until then I'd never noticed it and wondered if the snagged patch bent it. Guess not.
Thank you
