I have had this 18 (maybe 18.5) inch Remington 870 barrel for a long time.  It's parkerized and a factory 18 inch barrel.  It has a tritium front sight that has gone dark, and I'd like to replace it.  Problem is I can't find a replacement anywhere because I have no idea what it's called (besides "front sight").  Ideas?

Its called a rifle-type Tritium front sight for a shotgun.
You can get a replacement from Remington.  Be sure to give them the serial number so they can supply the right sight.
Make sure you specify that its for a rifle ramp type front, NOT a bead.

The tritium bead sight is part number 97215 and retails for $62.05, however the issue may be the dove tail base.  when you call ask for repair not parts as the cubical clowns in parts will have no idea what you are asking.  When you get repair, simply give them the above parts number and ask if the dove tail will fit your sight ramp.  If they tell you that older barrel still has  the the same sight ramp as the new 870, thank them and hang up.  Then shop around for a simple tritium front bead sight insert for an 870 with rifle sights. this can save you some money.   If you can't find one, get the one from Remington.
