Hey all, I know people don't like these "what's it worth" posts but I have zero knowledge of Mosins and a fellow is willing to trade me his for some ammo, etc I was looking to dump anyway. It's a 1934 Tula with the hex receiver, bayonet, ammo pouches, and 100 rds. He says the numbers all match and the finish looks good in the pictures. Receiver shows a SN of 71*** and has an arrow within a star. What is a fair value for this? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

I would hate for you to get a gun that looks good on the outside with serious flaws on or in the metal (barrel) on the inside. |

If it's all matching, tula, a hex receiver and 100 rounds of ammo PLUS a private sale I'd bump that up to 200.....just because anymore 100 rounds of ammo=$20 in it's own right. Just because it's a Tula doesn't make it more valuable. In fact a knowledgeable collector will pay slightly more for the similar age and condition Izhevsk. |

really? I should look into them harder. I got 11 Mosins, round and hex, and of the ones I haven't bought, almost every single one I've pawed over at gunshows is an izhvesk. I think I've only seen 3 Tula's and I got one of them. In the 1930s tulas were produced more than their izhevsk counter parts. |

You can argue that collectors who know about numbers produced...yada....yada....but on average, the Tula will almost always sell for as much (usually more) than the Izhevsk. I think the prices quoted here have been slightly on the low side, as well. It's getting to the point now that you're hard pressed to find any hex receiver 91/30 for less than $170, even at the wholesale level. Considering the ammo being included, $200 is more than fair, IMO. |

Well the reason is for new 91/30 buyers - Its easier to say.. if they do not buy a tula they start breaking out the dreaded IZZZYYY title. Also its easier for them to show to their buds- look at the big star! Its means its TULA!. KEWL huh... Izhevsk has little triangle with an arrow.. its less glamorous. |

I'm lucky I guess. I like ALLLLL mosin-nagants regardless of armory, refurbishment, counterboring or tiny bits of rust. This. Now don't insult me if I'm wrong because I'm still learning lots of the history on the MN, but I thought Izhevsk's were worth more too (not by some phenomenal amount, though). |

Really and truly, a refurbed 91/30 1930s- it is what it is. Nothing overly special about them tula or izhevsk. Now if we get in a conversation of a finnish capture 91/30, a non refurb, Spanish Civil war, etc.. thats a different conversation. |

I love the hex's... I have a 1934r izzy myself... bought it 6 years ago in cosmoline with accessories from aim, and looks like the prices have doubled at least since then
I view tula and izhevsk the same price wise... remington, chaterrault, sako, ect is where i am willing to pay a premium on a mosin |

Paid about $180 for it, now I don't feel so bad.
