I have a question for you hard cast reloaders. I just purchased 500 147 grain LRNFP made from a lyman mold. They have been lubed. The bullets have a boat tail with some lube covering that up (in addition to the lube ring midway in the bullet). Should I scrap off the lube on the "boat tail" portion or leave it be? Anyone have any good loads with this bullet?

Next time your source casts some for you, tell him to cut a small circle of styrofoam from an egg carton or grocery store steak or chicken packaging and place it in his sizer where the bullet base sits. this will keep 90% of the lube out of the bevel.
I wouldn't sweat the lube. make sure you put enough belling in the case mouth and just load them up. This should keep the lube from scraping off and gumming up you seating die. They are going to smoke regardless, perhaps less without the lube at the base, but I sure wouldn't waste the time being a neatnick unless they were gumming up my loading process. I cast some rcbs 147s that pick up a small amount of lube around the base but it just doesn't matter when it comes to performance. I've loaded these (RCBS ones) with titegroup and WST, prefer the WST @ 3.6g, col 1.10" for an average velocity of around 970 fps. yrmv. profile of these for comparison, should be similar to your lyman mold casts although with less of a bevel in the base:

Never heard of the Styrofoam trick for Bevel Base… Good one!!! I will file that one away
