| I've been wanting a .308 can and I've mostly been looking at the surge 7.62 and the sandman L but I just saw the AAC cyclone on silencer shop for $533 and was wondering if it is halfway decent or a paperweight. |

It's a good can. I have one and generally have no qualms about it. However with all the direct thread offerings that have modular mounts (Silencerco's Harvester/Omega, Griffin's taper mount direct thread adapter, TBAC's CB), why limit yourself to a direct thread suppressor that only supports 5/8x24 and not other thread pitches without the use of adapters and the associated tolerance stack up? |

Well it would go on my R700 and stay there. I am planing on buying the silencerco hybrid for everything else. I was thinking a dedicated. 308 can would get better sound suppression. And the cyclone is on the cheap side too. How does it compare to the harvester? |

The barrel was too thin to support 5/8x24 so I had it done in 9/16 - I simply purchased another direct thread adapter for my Harvester and I was ready to go. Comparing the Cyclone to the Harvester, my feelings are that the perform about the same (I wear plugs when shooting centerfire rifle anyway so they both "sound" good to me), but the brake on the Harvester helps a bit more with recoil management. I like having the ability to switch thread mount modules when desired. The Harvester is a lighter can, but since my rifle shooting is 99.9% bench shooting, that factor doesn't matter to me. |

Same for me I usually shoot from a bipod so weight and size doesn't matter. Does the harvester have to opton to attach to a muzzle brake to use when not using the can? Is the griffin armament taper mount stuff decent? |

Nope - just put the thread protector on when you're not using the can (same with the Cyclone) I don't have any Griffin Armament cans (out of NFA jail), so I can't comment about their taper mount. |

Well for me it's a toss up to what I'd rather have. Direct thread or QD. |

One of the reasons they still make it is because it's a solid performer. |

But I'm glad people havery a good opinion of it because usually cheap means it won't work worth a shit. |

But for a dedicated r700 platform id go with a lighter weight titanium offering. Remember.....buy once, cry once. |

Just ordered one at the $533 price AND free tax stamp from SS (not sure how long it'll stay on the free tax stamp list with SS, but it's still on there after my order).
Have the same intention as the OP, dedicated can for my sole R700 bolt .308. I already have a Saker 7.62 that fills my QD needs on other platforms, and this will be replacing an original YHM Phantom 762 that has been dedicated to this rifle in the past (28oz NOT including the mount) so I'll actually be IMPROVING the weight by almost half a pound... $533 with no stamp, hard to beat for a pretty solid can, and local pickup to boot... NOW wth am I gonna do with the old YHM? It was my first ever can, guess I'll have to build a beater gun to toss it on... |

Lol a beater gun.....let me know how you like the cyclone on your r700 when you get it. |

I am debating. I wanted another 5.56 can and was going to use the Gemtch HVT with quickmount on the 700 but a threaded can at this price...lmeans my one R700 will have a dedicated gun from a Brand Name suppressor company. Or I could go another way with SPEQ. Like the Harvester, I would just have to ay tax, and tax sTamp.
What else am I going to do with my HVT-QM if its not on a R700 and Blackout? I have a Sandman-S and Hybrid that can be used with the R700 but I just like the toni-Toni Tone of thr HVT on my SPR better than my G5. Money decisions, or just get another SpecWar K.....then that would pull me further from Gemtech..... |

I hate this place so much. Trying....to....resist. Quoted:

That's a heck of a deal, $533 and they pay the tax stamp. So you're getting the can for $333. I don't think you could do a F1 with those materials for that cheap and have it perform that well. Outstanding price. The cyclone is an excellent can. Mine exhibits minimal poi shift, and suppression is up there with the best. At some point I'll add a titanium can to my collection but it's not a priority. too many other projects right now. |

| I am still debating....SpecWar K or this. I know $200 difference I was hoping something else would have come open before Tax Day...but I have a Gemtech HVT sitting without a host and I shoot 5.56 more. I like that Gemtech G5-T but price is what is keeping me from throwing down the gauntlet on it. |

One is a QD 5.56 can that you can beat on vs. a thread-on .30 cal precision can. I guess this means you'll just have to get both. |

Quoted: I want it on a F4 out of the gate. I stopped by local Powered dealer today. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: I was thinking about this one too. If I was in TX it would be a done deal. We have FFl's in Alabama |

Quoted: Whoa! 120 in stock?!? Quoted: Quoted: Let one of my buddies know about the deal and he fent. Looks to be 33 or so left from the 120+ when I first checked their inventory after learning about it. Whoa! 120 in stock?!? I always keep adding more to my cart until it says "the requested quantity is not available" ...let's me know how long I can procrastinate for . |

The Silencer Shop Tax Sale is over. Wonder how many units they sold.
