I am thinking about adding another rimfire can to the stable and was curious if anyone had received their Element 2 yet, although I don't think they've been out long enough. I've currently got a Sparrow SS which I love and use on a MKIII and SR22p. Searching around the interwebz has yielded very few video results/reviews.
I know that the Element 2 is a K-baffle design and little bit lighter when compared to the Sparrow, but the spec sheets read the same with a sound reduction of 41db. Does anyone have at least some demo experience with one and how it compares in sound suppression to the Sparrow SS? Thanks for your time. |

It's quieter on pistols than the sparrow and no FRP, also much lighter and just a C-hair longer.
The Element has been out for years yet still hard to beat on a pistol and always stays in the 115 DB average. Only change for the new Element is TI tube and end cap. The Sparrow is quieter on rifles. Another option for pistols is the SWR Spectre II but its longer (and Heavy like the Sparrow) The SWR was cheaper then both . |

The spectre II also interests me. What are you liking more about it than your sparrow? FRP is aggravating as hell and it does get hard to take apart if you go too long between cleanings(more than 750 rounds). The sparrow is a great can, but it's still not the best in my opinion. Actually, I'm not sure there is such thing as a best can...yet. I'll keep buying them until I find one that I want two of(so far, Spectre II comes close). |

Well, I went ahead and ordered an Element 2 this morning. The plan will be to dedicate the Sparrow SS to a 22 bolt gun and use the Element 2 on pistol hosts since those appear to be each one's strong points.
After reading all the reviews on the Sparrow, I was already expecting the FRP on the sparrow. When I take new people out to shoot with it I always have to explain that the first round is going to be a little louder and they always give me a look of confusion. I solved that with a little wire pulling gel, but it does get annoying. SLIPJETT, let me know how they sound side by side once the government decides to release yours. |

I currently have a Spectre II for .22 duty, but I'm itching to pull the trigger on an element 2 to have something a little shorter and lighter for pistol use. Hmmm... I was on the waiting list for the Element 2 since they had been out of stock at Silencer Shop and I just happened to check their website and saw they were back in stock last night so I ordered one. I am sure I'll get a call on Monday letting me know that they are back in stock |
