A while back I decided I wanted to indulge my advanced form of BRD and get my first NFA item, a TiRant 9 suppressor.
I contacted my local dealer, who also has an in house range, and they said they had some TiRant 9 suppressors on order from AAC. They are an AAC dealer, and told me that AAC had manufactured the suppressors and sent off the form 3s so they could be transferred in house. Ok. Not a big deal since I didn't have my trust done yet, or threaded barrels, or pistons or all the funds. Well that was back in April or so, and apparently the form 3 still hasn't been approved... that or someone is dragging their feet/ bullshitting me along the way. Now that I've got everything I need to get the form 4 paperwork rolling, I'm starting to wonder. I know that NFA is a game of patience, and that I broke the tried and true rule of purchasing only in stock items, but my dealer told me that I could use my NFA stuff on their in house range while I was waiting for my form 4 approval. Given that I'd at least be able to use it a bit during the wait period, I was willing to pay a small bit more and wait a bit longer. I started this other form 3 wait times thread and everyone else is saying something along the lines of 8 to 10 weeks. I'm looking at at least 20-25 weeks right now with no update in sight. So I guess my question is... should I be pissed? If I call AAC to ask the status/ when they sent the form 3, would they even tell me? If I call ATF with the name of AAC and my dealer, could they tell me the status? I really would just like some information to know what's going on - information which there is a definite lack of right now. |

One of a couple scenarios happened here.
#1 - AAC hasn't manufactured your can yet. #2 - If your dealer is ordering direct from AAC, the minimum order is, IIRC, 10 cans. Could be that they don't have enough cans that customers have ordered yet to place an order. |
