Want a smaller suppressor for my 12.5" SBR, Noveske barrel with Switchblock.
Any opinions? Add roughly the same amount of length, but the AAC is a few hundred dollars cheaper MSRP, haven't talked to any dealers yet. |

I was researching the same thing yesterday and here is what I think: On an SBR it is going to be loud. Hear pro is probably advisable with a can
Your going to get a quieter shot with a bigger can but not enough. The mini 4 and the SF mini are basically going to to accomplish the exact same thing. They will kill flash, stop the SBR concussion, and reduce the noise to where foam plugs suffice. That brings it down to a few factors. SF had a better mounting system and offer a bird cage type flash hider which is nice for those who hate the ringing of a 3 prong style hider. Also, they look different. If you like the look of the SF better there is That. If the mount and looks dont mean anything to you, AAC is the winner at $300 cheaper. ETA: am on my phone so spelling is bad. |

By the numbers, the Surefire is marginally more effective. I've seen specs that list up to 26dB NRR on the SF Mini.
Size/weight difference is negligible. Mounts matter only if you care. It's a bigger deal if you have multiple rifles and suppressors and want interchangability. POI shift and accuracy probably aren't a big deal to you, especially if you're shooting M193 which is 3-4MOA ammo out of most rifles, so any shift on the AAC is probably going to fall well within your normal group size. On a 20" barrel, they're equals. Both should be hearing safe, albeit still uncomfortable. On a 16" or 18", the SF has the edge because its slightly better performance can potentially keep it hearing safe (again, you'll still want earpro). On an SBR, it no longer matters because neither is going to be hearing safe. At some point, I'll be getting the Surefire, but that's because I have other SF cans and all my rifles will have SF mounts (currently only have two hosts set up, but I'll get to it). So what other cans do you have, and is interchangability an issue? Or do you tend to put a can on a rifle and leave it there? If you don't have a reason to go with the Surefire, it sounds like you want the AAC. |

Somehow, I have been poisoned against AAC. I should do my homework, butI have heard of some unscrupulous biz practices. With that said, their shorty pistol cans look pretty damn sweet. I have no NFA surefire, but of the SF things I do have-they always work. minor hijack, but related to small cans: How does the OPS INC M4M compare? I have on on order and it's of comparable size. |
