I found a Prodigy with the old core. Should I buy that and have a fairly loud can that hopefully in a few months will be the lightest quietest .22 can on the market or get the Spectre?  At least with the spectre I know exactly what I will get.

What would you do?

+1 for Spectre, its a bit heavier but it's baffles are stainless steel and built like a tank.

Why hasn't anyone voted for the Prodigy yet?

Is it because we don't know for sure if we will get our hands on a new core?

Maybe they havent voted because you write "Should I buy"
But they dont know your needs ,so a bit hard to say what would be best
I dont have any of them so i cant help ,but if you gave people some info they might be able to help

Like both cans CAN be taken apart ,but you have to do it frequently to be keep that possibility ,one is aluminum the other stainless
The stainless you can clean with vinegar+ peroxide if it got to dirty to get apart
The other only takes some seconds to break the dirt free now and then

the weight is different and and pros and contras for both

What do they always say here ,,,get both

Spectre, I like to shoot 17 hmr and 5.7.  Multiple calibers for a bit more, plus steel construction... mmmm delicious

Edit: \/\/\/What he said \/\/\/

Might be because of the bad feelings against AAC on this site.

I'm picking up my Spectre this week ... never used a Prodigy though.  I didn't vote.

Spectre.  It will be nearly as quiet and stainless is FAR more durable and more desirable for a .22 can.

I own a Prodigy and am partial to AAC products, but I voted for a Spectre.  A Spectre will be my next 22 can.  I have shot a Prodigy and Spectre side by side on the same host guns.  With the current core in the Prodigy, the Spectre is noticably quieter on a pistol, and sounds about the same on a rifle.  I have not heard the new core on the Prodigy.  The Spectre is heavier, but it's steel and not alluminum.  The extra weight might be undesireable for you on some hosts.  I didn't find it to be that bad, it's not like its a 16 lbs sledge hammer.  Steel is also going to be more durable than alluminum.  The Spectre can also be used on 22mag and 5.7s and 17's.  All in all, I think it's probably a better product and the one you should get if you're only going to have one can.

Depends on your use. Getting ready to pick up a Spectre due to its stronger construction (at the cost of double the weight). I want to be able to use it for full auto fire, and the Spectre is rated for that in addition to semi in 5.7 and the rimfire magnums, but if were trying to keep a light pistol package I might prefer the Prodigy.

I would stick with gemtech, they made all my other suppressors.

I'd go with the T2 I may be buying one

I have both.  I like both.

Prodigy is lighter & has a 1 peice baffle stack which a place a high value on.  The new core will make it as quiet on a pistol as eh spectre.

The spectre is quiet on all platforms.  It was right the first time.  Its also heavier, but more versatile.

You won't be disappointed in either choice once the new cores come out.

I decided to go with the Prodigy earlier this morning. After talking with the owner of AAC I feel pretty confident with my choice.  I hate to buck the poll numbers, but I think it will suit my needs better.  I can't wait to put it on my new P22. (They are on sale at Gander mountain right now for $249)

As an owner of both, I couldn't agree more.  I like the one piece baffle stack of the Prodigy.  Being able to take it apart by hand is a big plus.  The Spectre is a tank.  It will outlast me.
