Those of you who own or have used an AAC mini 4, I would like your thoughts and impressions on the can. How does it balance compared to a M42K and the SDN6 which I already have. Pics are appreciated as well.

Thanks fellas.

You might have seen my pics...I whore them out a lot.

I really enjoy the Mini4 and it sounds like you are invested in the AAC muzzle devices having their cans already.  To me, I have always focused on one main factor when considering cans for 5.56, which have smaller subsets..

What is the goal of the specific rifle(s) it will be used with?

For me, the AAC Mini4 adds very little to OAL (keeping the length on my SBR's down) and 5.56 is always going to be above the threshold for hearing damage, so while there are decibels to gain with longer and subsequently heavier cans, the end result will still have potential for hearing damage.  I want a can on my SBR's that takes the serious bite out of 12.5" and under length rifles...I am not trying to obtain the quietest platform (which will still produce supersonic rounds and high decibel ranges) and sacrifice the benefits of the SBR in weight and length factors.  Thus, I like mini cans on rifles.  I would not mind getting a Gemtech Trek-T either since the weight is low and added length is comparable since there is no muzzle device.

The goals is for something lighter for use on a 14.5in lightweight build. Can may see use in a 10.3 as well. The trek-t looks intriguing as well due to the 10.3oz weight and the minimal poi shift. Having multiple rifles setup for the 51t already has me leaning towards the mini 4. Has anyone shot a Mini4 and a SDN6 on a 5.56? I feel like they are going to be about the same sound decibel.

I have a Mini 4, it's tiny compared to my 762 cans. I haven't shot it yet, just the full size cans. I do have a Saker K on the way as well and plan to do a comparison write up after shooting with both.

Looking forward to reading the comparison.

I have both and on a 11.5" barrel it's not hard to tell there is a difference, but it's still not a ton .  I'm sure a sound meter would show a difference but to my mk2 ear, it sounded pretty similar with the mini being louder.

Yes I have both suppressors and have shot them from the same host. The SDN6 is absolutely quieter than the Mini 4, especially on SBR's. I generally only run the Mini 4 on 14.5 or longer barrels, at least when I don't want to wear ear pro.

Not sure u would shoot any center fire supersonic round without ear pro but I'm thinking the mini 4 would be nice to take the bite out of a SBR upper.

I'll post some pictures up. I have shot both the SDN-6 and Mini 4 (own both) on 10.3" and 11.5" guns and I personally still classify the noise as "loud" on those hosts. Nothing unbearable but the difference in size is enough for me to nod toward the mini for my SBR's.

Damn double-tap. I'll post the pics in this post.

Sorry for the crappy cell pic.  Just some comparison for size.  Both guns are 11.5"    From top Mini 4, 762SND, Griffin M4SD II, SF 556RC, SF 762RC.

This is not the AAC cans, but kind of an interesting look at the db ratings on different length cans and barrel length rifles.

I personally own a lot of cans, and they all have their place. Most of the time I use the TREK-T, but I always have a rifle around with M4-2000 close by.
like said above I think its a great can for SBR and CQB work, especially since you're going to be wearing ears anyway. It really fits a specific role so if you are going to be using you're SBR inside buildings then its great. its a great can for police work in my opinion. but...a lot of people don't like the mini because they buy a "silencer" to really "silence their rifle". They like being able to screw it on at the range and really notice the sound difference. If they are going to spend the money they also tend to db chase. When I'm shooting at night or outdoors or letting someone shoot who's never shot suppressed rifle before i like the full-size.
im not explaining this very well, but basically the mini is a great can for work and for people who really appreciate what it was designed to do.

Personally i think that if you could only have one 556 can, i would go with the M4-2000 full-size. If you are experienced (OP it seems like you are) then yea the mini or a trek would be fun to add to your collection.
