If a short 300BLK rifle runs without a can, there is no reason it shouldn't run with a can, no matter what size.
As to the short 30-cal silencers on the market, I can't quite see the point. Yes, they are lighter and more maneuverable. But the whole point of 300BLK is quiet, and none of the "mini" 30cal silencers are particularly quiet. If you are going to shoot supersonics and need something to take the bark off, I guess they can serve in the same capacity as a Surefire Mini/Micro on a 5.56 rifle, but those cans are really loud too. It is even worse trying to run one on a real .308, especially an SBR like yours. The only real reason to buy one is if you really prioritize size/weight and are ok with being pretty disappointed on sound performance. |

Sound suppression is at least halfway down on the list of criteria I have for judging cans. Same here. In fact it might be lower than that.
The Mini-7 would have made an awesome all around can for both SBR 5.56s and .300s. Shame it seems to have been killed. |

I think the mini would be nice on a CQB/night operations where blast/flash signature minimization is the primary goal. I am curious what your suppressor priorities are if sound suppression is that far down on the list... Flash suppression, sturdy mount, minimal backpressure, minimal POI shift. I want it quiet enough to not make my ears bleed and to cause confusion about where I'm firing from. |

Conqueror --- i understand what your saying. i have an sdn-6 that i run on that gun and it does a pretty good job of keeping the noise and flash down but you know it's out there hangin on the end of the barrel. with something the size of the mini 4 it's a night and day difference in handling. almost as if it just becomes part of the gun and not something added on to it if that makes sense. i know it wouldn't be quiet but i'm just looking for more of a "moderator" than suppressor. just something to take the "bark" off like you said. it would make shooting indoors or from a confined space much better and it would also keep the length of the gun much more manageable. i would give up sound reduction on the 308 for the other benefits. and while not quiet i think it would do a decent job of masking your shots. on the 300blk i would hope for more in the way of sound reduction , especially with subs , but i would lean towards longer/heavier for sound reduction than lighter/handier but with a short 300blk with an sdn-6 or similar length can it's still a pretty small and manageable package. i just wish AAC would have come to market with the mini 7 so i could have the option of which can to screw on for the type of shooting i would be doing. but your point is well taken as most people look to a suppressor for sound reduction as it's primary purpose.
cadepatterson --- sorry to hear that C_Locke --- i do have an sdn-6 that i run in both of those guns , it does a decent job on the 308 and is great on the 300blk with subs Combat_Jack --- your last post sounds like alot of what i'm looking for out of a suppressor most of the time. there are times where i want ssshhhhhhhhh but mostly i like your criteria for a can. one thing i do notice is i get less poi shift from my mini 4 than my sdn-6. i understand the size and weight difference hanging off the end of the barrel thing but i get no noticeable poi shift with my mini 4. i hope you don't mind if i use this "I want it quiet enough to not make my ears bleed and to cause confusion about where I'm firing from" C_Jack |
