Anyone know about these? Never heard of an ACH ever passing a NIJ III test before. I remember reading that the Army ECH program was looking at using polyethylene in a helmet that would stop some rifle rounds but I thought all those prototypes failed.

If they produced a Rifle rated helmet the resulting kinetic energy from impact would simply break your neck

Kind of like Kamikaze pilots wearing helmets....what for?

Really?  Amazing how the kick from a rifle doesn't break your neck, but has exactly the same amount of force...oh, wait, you mean 12 gauge slugs won't also throw you backwards through a wall?  Groovy....

PS, sarcasm aside, I have seen people who've been hit in the ACH with 7.62x39, and not even noticed, much less died.   And if you do a quick search you will find  quite a few documented examples in case my 'anecdotal' evidence isn't sufficient.

Dude, I know 2 separate people that have been shot in the head wearing an ACH. The first one recieved a laceration and deep scratch in his skull but lived and is actually sitting next to me as we speak, slightly more prone to seizures but alive nonethess. The second guy that was shot in the head lived for about 13 days after it happened and eventually succombed to his wounds. I know multiple people that have been shot in the side plate, one at point blank, and he didnt even notice it, the others noticed it but didnt do much that brush it off, i also know dudes that have been hit square in the chest plate and dropped like a sack of bricks and others that barely noticed it....actually the guy that died after being hit in the head had been shot in his plate fighting next to me and didnt notice untill after we got back to the fob....so i hardly doubt the it would break your neck, maybe ring your bell pretty damn good, but hey, if it stops bullets, ill put it on my head any day of the week....
